Ready for an incredible family Spring Break Vacation? We are counting down the top destinations for Family Spring Break Vacations. My dad loved planning family travel, so I grew up going on some incredible family Spring Break vacations....they were an integral part of our family heritage and the shared experiences and moments are ingrained in our family’s memories making a great bond. I have in turn taken my own family on annual Spring Break Vacations to make our own memories and collect some aha moments...I have seen and experienced a lot in over 35 plus years of annual spring break travel and here are my personal favorites counting down from 10 to #1.... #10 Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona (valley of the sun)... I love this area for the arid weather, beautiful scenery and amazing desert landscapes. Great hiking and spectacular drives....If you are baseball fan this is the home of the cactus league for Spring Break so can see your favorite teams and players up close and personal followed by margaritas and great Mexican food in old town Scottsdale...golf is also great and everywhere. A great itinerary we did with my own family into this area was: Fly into Las Vegas see a show and visit the neon museum, drive to South Rim of Grand Canyon stopping at hoover dam and then stay in a Grand Canyon National Park lodge close to the rim (sunsets on the rim are fantastic). Great hikes, ranger talks and activities in the Grand Canyon village...with minimal crowds. Side trip to Montezuma National Monument for amazing Indian cliff dwellings. Drive down to Sedona to hike and be inspired by the red rocks and then on to Phoenix and Scottsdale for some baseball and lots of fun activities before flying back home. #9 Washington DC....Our nation’s capital, always a great family area with free museums, national zoo, pandas, moon rocks, military bands, great food and culture. History is alive and making memories every day...get a great view from the top floor of the W hotel tp see the President flying into the White House on Marine One helicopter or check out the Marines amazing silent drill platoon parade and exibition at the Marine Barracks or Iwo Jima memorial (all for free). Great choices for hotels in the district or just outside and can take trains and metro rail everywhere. Side trips to Baltimore on train and also Mt. Vernon – George Washington’s home...or if feel adventurous to the living history town of Colonial Williamsburg in VA. #8 Orlando – not my personal favorite but it is many others as the theme parks offer some incredible attractions, rides, shows and activities that are appealing to all family members. There is a wide variety of resorts from 5 star to camping for most budgets and tastes...if have time try to see the old time attractions like GatorLand or a full day side trip to the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral to see where America competed and won the space race and can see some real rockets, space shuttles and talk to real astronauts and see rockets ready to launch. Be prepared to wait in lines though as this entire area can be packed.... #7 Los Angeles - A great family destination from all the movie studios, museums, Reagan and Nixon Presidential libraries, Santa Monica pier, Beverly Hills, great weather, China town, Theme parks like Knots Berry Farm, Six flags, original Universal studios and original Disneyland...lesser known attractions too like the La Brea tar pits to see where dinosaurs got stuck, died and preserved...Take a bike ride on the beach...it is amazing and fun for the entire family. Side trips to Orange County, San Diego or Santa Barbara are well worth it... #6 Hawaii.... The Aloha state is always a great choice for an amazing family vacation....Consistent great weather, stunning beaches, exotic flowers, gardens, Polynesian and Hawaiian culture, whale watching, golf, surfing, diving, hiking, island hopping. With Southwest airlines starting to fly from CA to the islands and also offering flights inter-island will really open up this destination. Always recommend visiting at least two islands when making this journey... #5 South Florida Beaches – From Palm Beach to Miami Beach on the East coast and from Clearwater to Marco Island on the West coast... beautiful beaches, boating, fishing and just having family fun. Combine this with Grapefruit league Spring Training baseball for added family fun. Try a side trip to the everglades on an airboat ride or swamp buggy to see some gators for extra fun or if have a full day then venture down to the Keys...any of them are great and get on a boat for always the best view at sunset. You’ll instantly relax and be glad you did. #4 Caribbean resorts....we prefer the family all-inclusive resorts as everything is included and offer something for everyone from food, activities, shows and entertainment. Some even include local excursions...best all Inclusive beach resorts with nice beaches are in Cancun, Riviera Maya, Cancun, Jamaica and Dominica Republic. The Beaches resort in Turks and Caicos is also very nice but not inexpensive. All-inclusive resort vacations are also perfect for large extended families and groups. #3. San Antonio, TX Remember the Alamo...The Republic of Tx is proud of their heritage and they should be. The storied Alamo has some great history with many national flags being flown over it and the history of the brave stand of Texans against the large Mexican Army has been retold many times in movies and books. The San Antonio Riverwalk is fun with theme parks like Six Flags, Sea World as well as the world class San Antonio Botanical Gardens. Weather is nice in Spring with beautiful flowers. Check out some fun side trips to Johnson space center in Houston or explore the weird city live entertainment capital of Austin, TX...see all the state capital exhibits along with the LBJ presidential Library close to the University of Texas campus. #2 Skiing...Most of my spring break trips as a child were skiing in Tahoe, UT and Colorado....skiing is fantastic and perfect for families and groups...my personal favorites are Squaw Creek, Lake Tahoe for families, Keystone, Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, CO, Whistler, Canada, Sun Valley, ID #1 Caribbean Cruise- my personal favorite for extended families and traveling with groups of friends as just about everything is included. Just unpack once while visiting multiple ports...Cruises offer something for entire family, kid programs water parks, entertainment, Broadway style shows, health clubs, spa, casinos, variety of F&B outlets, stunning Caribbean beaches, private islands and onboard water parks. . Since the ships are cruising from port to port you’ll always find good weather. We recommend departing from Ft. Lauderdale and Miami for the best itineraries and ease of loading. The bigger the ship the better the entertainment, shows, dining activities and something for everyone...
FYI, we have a fantastic Family Spring Break Cruise for 2020 on the brand new Norwegian Encore Ship...check it out. That’s my top 10, thanks for reading....what are yours???? Share the knowledge
