Hooray and Cheers! Thanks to an approximately 90% adult vaccination rate and low daily COVID19 infection rate, Ireland's Prime Minister announced plans to drop most of their COVID restrictions as of October 19, 2021. After a series of phased easing of restrictions, there will no longer be requirements for physical distancing or wearing a mask while either indoors or outdoors beginning October 22, 2021. EASE OF RESTRICTIONS: The Ireland Prime Minister just announced in a televised address; “Because of the effort of our vaccination team and because you have stepped up to the mark and taken the vaccine when it was offered, we are now entering a whole new phase of the pandemic,”. IRELAND'S POPULARITY WITH USA VISITORS Ireland continues to be one of the most popular European destinations for USA travelers and especially for first time visitors to Europe for the following reasons: - No language barrier - Common English language - Rich Irish history and heritage along with large number of Americans of Irish decent wishing to trace their roots - Stunning natural landscapes and beautiful scenery - Ease of travel - Dublin is the closest European capitol to the USA (just a 6.5 hour flight) - Famous Irish hospitality and pub culture - Irish food, festivals, unique music, and step dancing HOW TO TRAVEL TO IRELAND AND BACK TO THE USA Currently, USA citizens traveling to Ireland are required to complete an Ireland Passenger Locator Form, which will be used to streamline contact tracing in case the traveler is possibly exposed to COVID-19. Travelers arriving in Ireland from the U.S. who present valid proof of vaccination or proof of recovery from COVID-19 within the past 180 days do not need to complete a travel-related test or quarantine. Alternatively, travelers from the U.S. who do not have valid proof of vaccination or COVID-19 recovery will need to provide evidence of a negative result from an RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival in Ireland. Those travelers must also self-quarantine for 14 days in Ireland after arrival. However, that traveler can leave quarantine if they receive a negative result from an RT-PCR test taken 5 days or later after arrival in Ireland. When flying from Ireland to the USA, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) requires all airline passengers to present proof of a negative COVID19 test taken 3 days prior to boarding a flight to the USA.
